Welcome Back Warrensburg Elementary School
|
Dear Warrensburg Elementary Parents and Guardians:
Welcome back for the 2025-2026 school year! We hope you had a great summer vacation and that you are ready and excited to begin a new school year together. Earlier this summer, Mr. Bierman and I started our new positions as your administrative team. I am thrilled to be serving as Interim PK-6 Principal, and Mr. Bierman joins the team as the new Assistant Principal. We appreciate everyone’s support as the newest members of the WES family of educators.
As we gear up for an eventful year ahead, I wanted to take this moment to extend a warm welcome to all of our students and families, both returning and new. Each school year brings with it the promise of fresh opportunities, new friendships, and the chance to make wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. With your partnership, we can truly make a difference in the lives of each student. Together, we can empower them to not only excel academically, but also develop valuable life skills, cultivate a sense of community, and grow into well-rounded individuals.
I look forward to an outstanding school year and working collaboratively with all of you. Please feel free to reach out to me at 518-623-9747 if you have questions, suggestions, or simply want to introduce yourself. Let's have a great school year!
Sincerely,
Damian Switzer
Interim Elementary Principal
Jed Bierman

To ensure you are well-informed about the happenings at school, we will be sharing a monthly newsletter. This newsletter will serve as a window into our school's activities, achievements, upcoming events, and important announcements. It's designed to provide insights into your child's educational journey. You can find a new newsletter each month posted on our elementary website and shared via Parent Square. I encourage you to read it, share your feedback, and actively participate in the events and initiatives that we will be hosting throughout the school year.

Bus students will remain on the bus until 8:00am when one of our Teaching Assistants will go out and greet them to bring them inside. All students will report to the designated areas listed above to pick up their breakfast and report to their classroom.
|
Bus students will be dismissed at 2:45pm.
Parent Pick ups and walkers will be dismissed at 2:50pm daily.
Teachers will bring the class out together in the same location as morning drop off. The only location where you may pick up your child is in the front circle area.
Please remember that once a teacher takes your child outside and dismisses them, the parent becomes responsible for their supervision. Students may not go to the playground or linger on school property.

Beginning on Monday, September 8th, the front circle will be open for drop off in the morning. Drivers will be allowed to enter the circle and must use one of the three marked drop off spaces in front of the main entrance. There will be only one lane of traffic in the circle marked clearly with paint and cones. Students should exit the vehicle curb side to ensure their safety. In order to keep the traffic moving safely and efficiently, please follow the directions of our SRO and staff members. Additional details about morning drop offs in the circle will be shared via Parent Square.
|
During the school day, the only entrance available for school business is the main entrance door. If you need to enter the building during the day for any reason you will need to use the buzzer, and our Security Monitor/Greeter will then unlock the door for entrance. You will then need to sign in to the building or sign your child out/in depending on the purpose of your visit. All visitors are expected to show proper identification and will be issued a temporary picture identification badge.

Regular school attendance is crucial for your child's academic success and social development. When students attend school consistently, they not only keep up with lessons and important skills, but they also engage with their peers, fostering friendships and teamwork. Every day in the classroom provides unique learning experiences that contribute to your child’s growth.
If your child is absent from school, please contact the main office and notify us by phone or in writing with the reason for the absence. Our school uses Parent Square to contact you if we are uncertain as to the reason for your child’s absence.
Thank you for your commitment to your child’s education!

Our school district serves breakfast and lunch daily at no charge to students. Students are provided with a ‘grab and go’ breakfast for the classroom each morning and lunch is served in our cafeteria. Parents are encouraged to use LINQ for making deposits into your child’s account and monitoring what they are purchasing. These funds can also be used to purchase additional items such as snacks, double lunches or ice cream.

WES has implemented a program to strengthen our school culture and foster the development of social and emotional learning. The Positivity Project (P2) empowers students to build positive relationships and become their best selves by focusing on positive psychology’s 24 character strengths, such as bravery, perseverance, integrity, and gratitude. P2 partners with Pre-K–12 schools, providing the resources, training, and strategies to help students understand and apply these strengths. This holistic approach involves students, educators, and families, fostering a positive school culture that supports teaching and learning. Click here to learn more about our partnership.

Warrensburg Elementary School teaches students that we expect everyone in our building to follow the rules of being Safe, Responsible and Respectful in all areas of our school building. Each month, we host a WES PRIDE Assembly and reinforce these expected behaviors, as well as recognize students who have exemplified these characteristics throughout the month. Parents are welcome to attend these assemblies. They are usually held on the last day of the month @ 8:30am in the gymnasium.

‘In The Zone’ is a daily after school enrichment program for students in grades 1-5. The program takes place Monday through Friday from 3pm-5pm in the Elementary School. Participating students are provided with several programmed activities including time and assistance for homework and reading, extra practice in math, recreation and outdoor time, and a variety of enrichment programs such as field trips, guest speakers, and STEAM activities throughout the year. Additional information will be sent home in a separate mailing. Because the program is popular and has limited capacity, students will be placed on a waiting list.

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month, providing a great opportunity to become involved and make a positive impact.
