Monthly Newsletter - February 2026

Dear Warrensburg Elementary Parents and Guardians:
As we enter the month of February, we want to take a moment to emphasize how your involvement at home plays a crucial role in your child’s success. Here are a few simple ways to stay connected and support your child’s learning:

Stay Engaged with Their School Day
Ask about their school day! Questions like, “What was something new you learned today?” or “What was your favorite part of class?” can spark meaningful conversations and help you understand their experiences better.

Encourage Perseverance
Remind your child that it’s okay to make mistakes. Emphasizing that effort and persistence are key to growth can help them develop a positive mindset towards challenges.

Celebrate Small Wins
Whether it’s mastering a new math concept, finishing a challenging book, or showing kindness to a classmate, every success deserves recognition. Celebrating these small wins boosts their confidence and motivation.

Create a Routine
Setting aside regular time for reading, homework, or quiet focus helps establish a routine. Consistency builds confidence and reinforces the importance of learning.

Support When You Need It
We want every family to feel supported when questions or concerns arise. Here’s the best way to start:

1️⃣ Your Child’s Classroom Teacher: Reach out to your child’s teacher with any academic, social, or classroom-specific concerns. They know your child best in the school setting and can provide valuable insight.
2️⃣ School Counselor or Support Staff: If additional support is needed, the counselor or other support staff can assist with social-emotional concerns or academic resources.
3️⃣ Building Principal: If concerns remain unresolved after speaking with the teacher and counselor, please reach out to one of the principals for further support.

Open and consistent communication helps us work together effectively to ensure every child feels supported and successful at school. Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education!

Sincerely,
Damian Switzer

P2 Pride Assembly Program

Warrensburg Elementary School reinforces that everyone in our building is expected to follow the rules of being Safe, Responsible, and Respectful in all areas of the school. Each month, we host a WES PRIDE Assembly to reinforce these behaviors and to recognize students who exemplify P2 Pride characteristics.

Stay tuned for more information as we celebrate our students and their #EMPOWERED positive actions that inspire our entire school community!

WES Positivity Project Themes

January Character Strength: OPTIMISM - Optimism is the wonderful habit of looking at the bright side, believing in ourselves, and choosing a hopeful path even when things feel tough. When we stay optimistic, we’re better friends, better teammates, and better learners. So let’s fill this new year with kind choices, encouraging words, and big dreams.

February Character Strength: LOVE - Love represents the way we think, feel, and behave towards the people with whom we have close relationships. When one person loves another
person, that person: comforts and makes the other feel safe; sacrifices on the other’s behalf; supports the other during struggles; and places the other’s needs ahead of his/her own.

Running Club at WES

Students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade can be seen bright and early each day taking part in a morning running club as they enter the building. The activity, held before the first bell, offers a lively alternative to standing in the hallway and waiting for class to start. Participants dash laps to music, earning popsicle sticks for every lap—a small, tangible reward that adds to the morning excitement.

By encouraging kids to move together, the program supports both physical health and social-emotional well-being, helping students start their day with energy and enthusiasm.

How many laps can you earn? The morning routine serves as a reminder that quick, structured exercise can make a big difference in students’ day, setting a positive tone for learning and cooperation in the classroom. Great job WES!

Preparing for Winter Weather

During this season, we are enlisting families' help to ensure children are dressed appropriately for the weather. Hats, gloves or mittens, and boots are essential to keeping them safe and warm during the winter months. This is especially important for older students who may not always want to dress for the elements. Thank you for your support!

Presidents' Week: February 16-19

Happy Birthday, George Washington & Abraham Lincoln!
Besides wishing them happy birthdays, let's take a dive into the presidency, in general:
  • Which presidential personality is most like yours?
  • Can a woman be president?
  • What were the presidents really like?
Check out the resources for all these questions, and more. Meanwhile, enjoy the holiday weekend. (PBS Kids Videos)

Front Circle Drop Off Reminders:

The front circle opened successfully this year, and we’re pleased with the results. To keep morning drop-off safe and efficient, please follow these guidelines:
  • Pull your vehicle all the way up to the staff member at the front of the line, if possible.
  • Drop off your child curbside.
  • Stay in your vehicle until your child is safely out of the car.
We appreciate your cooperation and support!

Main (Pillar) Entrance:

During the school day, the only entrance available for school business is the main entrance door. If you need to enter the building during the day for any reason you will need to use the buzzer, and our Security Monitor/Greeter will then unlock the door for entrance. You will then need to sign in to the building or sign your child out/in depending on the purpose of your visit. All visitors are expected to show proper identification and will be issued a temporary picture identification badge.

Attendance:

Regular school attendance is crucial for your child's academic success and social development.
When students attend school consistently, they not only keep up with lessons and important skills, but they also engage with their peers, fostering friendships and teamwork. Every day in the classroom provides unique learning experiences that contribute to your child’s growth.

If your child is absent from school, please contact Mrs. Seeley in the attendance office with the reason for the absence. She can be reached by phone at #518-623-9747 x197 or via email: seeleyk@wcsd.org. Our school uses Parent Square to contact you when the reason for an absence is unclear. Please ensure your contact information is up to date so you don’t miss important messages.
