Monthly Newsletter - January 2026

Happy New Year!

Dear Warrensburg Elementary Parents and Guardians:

As January 2026 begins, we want to take a moment to celebrate the accomplishments of Warrensburg Elementary students and staff. Our music department has delivered outstanding concerts that highlight the talent and dedication of our young performers. It is heartwarming to see our students learning and growing in such a supportive and nurturing environment at WES. Their Burgher Pride shines through, and we are inspired by their commitment to their classes, peers, and the broader community.

As we welcome the New Year, we are excited to share our good news with you and encourage everyone to stay connected with us. Parent Square is the primary source of district, school, grade level and classroom communications here at Warrensburg Central School District. You will regularly receive district, school, classroom and athletics information through email, text and/or the mobile app — it's your choice! Parent Square will also be the primary method for sending report cards for the remainder of the school year. To view your child’s report card, tap the ‘Alerts’ icon at the bottom of the page and then ‘View Document’ to download a PDF copy for your records. See the Parent Square Getting Started Guide for more details.

The start of a new year also provides a perfect opportunity for reflection and renewed commitment. We deeply value your support from home as it plays a crucial role in your child's success. We encourage all students to remain focused on their goals by working hard and being present each day.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s well-being or academic progress, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your involvement is essential, and we are here to support both you and your child.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy, and safe New Year!

Sincerely,
Damian Switzer
Interim Elementary Principal

P2 Pride Assembly Program

Warrensburg Elementary School reinforces that everyone in our building is expected to follow the rules of being Safe, Responsible, and Respectful in all areas of the school. Each month, we host a WES PRIDE Assembly to reinforce these behaviors and to recognize students who exemplify P2 Pride characteristics.
Stay tuned for more information as we celebrate our students and their #EMPOWERED positive actions that inspire our entire school community!

December Character Strength: SELF-CONTROL - If you display this character trait - You have the ability to control your emotions and behavior - You think before you act. You choose actions that are kind and safe. It’s like a superpower that helps you stay calm, do your best, and get along with others.

January Character Strength: OPTIMISM - Optimistic people are hopeful, make plans, and keep going even when things are hard.

December Spirit Week Themes

Themes included: Favorite Christmas Character, Blue Christmas, Crazy Christmas Hair or Hat, Ugly Sweater Day, and PJ Day. Thanks to students and staff for participating!

Winter Awards Assembly - Grade 6:

At the end of the first trimester, the sixth grade class of 2032 was recognized by their teachers during an awards assembly program in the GP room. Students were celebrated not only for academic achievement, but also for perfect attendance and notable improvement. Congratulations!

School Nurse Update: Over the Counter Products and Medications

As a follow-up to the New York State Center for School Health (NYSCSH) directive to school nurses to obtain written orders for over-the-counter (OTC) medications, attached is the permission form that needs to be completed and sent in to your child's school. If you are unable to print the form, please stop into either building and pick up a copy.

Front Circle Drop Off Reminders:

The front circle opened successfully this year, and we’re pleased with the results. To keep morning drop-off safe and efficient, please follow these guidelines:
  • Pull your vehicle all the way up to the staff member at the front of the line, if possible.
  • Drop off your child curbside.
  • Stay in your vehicle until your child is safely out of the car.
We appreciate your cooperation and support!

Main (Pillar) Entrance:

During the school day, the only entrance available for school business is the main entrance door. If you need to enter the building during the day for any reason you will need to use the buzzer, and our Security Monitor/Greeter will then unlock the door for entrance. You will then need to sign in to the building or sign your child out/in depending on the purpose of your visit. All visitors are expected to show proper identification and will be issued a temporary picture identification badge.

Attendance:

Regular school attendance is crucial for your child's academic success and social development.
When students attend school consistently, they not only keep up with lessons and important skills, but they also engage with their peers, fostering friendships and teamwork. Every day in the classroom provides unique learning experiences that contribute to your child’s growth.

If your child is absent from school, please contact Mrs. Seeley in the attendance office with the reason for the absence. She can be reached by phone at #518-623-9747 x197 or via email: seeleyk@wcsd.org. Our school uses Parent Square to contact you when the reason for an absence is unclear. Please ensure your contact information is up to date so you don’t miss important messages.
