Help Your Child Avoid the "Summer Slide"

As the school year winds down, we wanted to share an important reminder about the "summer slide" — the learning loss that can occur when children are away from the classroom for months. Research shows that students who don't engage in educational activities over the summer can lose up to two months of reading progress, and these losses accumulate year after year. The best way to prevent this? Encourage your child to read regularly throughout the break! Just 20 minutes of reading a day can make an enormous difference in maintaining and even growing their literacy skills.

Let your child choose books that genuinely interest them — whether graphic novels, adventure stories, or nonfiction about their favorite animals — because choice is a powerful motivator. Visit your local library, start a family book club, or simply model reading yourself. A summer filled with books is not only fun but also sets your child up for a confident and successful return to school in the fall. Thank you for partnering with us in keeping those young minds active and growing all summer long!

P2 Assembly

P2 Pride Assembly Program

Warrensburg Elementary School reinforces that everyone in our building is expected to follow the rules of being Safe, Responsible, and Respectful in all areas of the school. Each month, we host a WES PRIDE Assembly to reinforce these behaviors and to recognize students who exemplify P2 Pride characteristics.

Stay tuned for more information as we celebrate our students and their #EMPOWERED positive actions that inspire our entire school community!

in the future.

Attendance:

Regular school attendance is crucial for your child's academic success and social development.
When students attend school consistently, they not only keep up with lessons and important skills, but they also engage with their peers, fostering friendships and teamwork. Every day in the classroom provides unique learning experiences that contribute to your child’s growth.

If your child is absent from school, please contact Mrs. Seeley in the attendance office with the reason for the absence. She can be reached by phone at #518-623-9747 x197 or via email: seeleyk@wcsd.org. Our school uses Parent Square to contact you when the reason for an absence is unclear. Please ensure your contact information is up to date so you don’t miss important messages.

Front Circle Drop Off Reminders:

The front circle opened successfully this year, and we’re pleased with the results. To keep morning drop-off safe and efficient, please follow these guidelines:
  • Pull your vehicle all the way up to the staff member at the front of the line, if possible.
  • Drop off your child curbside.
  • Stay in your vehicle until your child is safely out of the car.
We appreciate your cooperation and support!

Main (Pillar) Entrance:

During the school day, the only entrance available for school business is the main entrance door. If you need to enter the building during the day for any reason you will need to use the buzzer, and our Security Monitor/Greeter will then unlock the door for entrance. You will then need to sign in to the building or sign your child out/in depending on the purpose of your visit. All visitors are expected to show proper identification and will be issued a temporary picture identification badge.
